This one may be admittedly be more of a Danish secret than a Scandinavian one, but their potatoes are really special. They’re so creamy. And they’re everywhere. Fries, potato frikadeller (meatballs), potato salad, potatoes in open-faced sandwiches. They’re everywhere, and they’re all amazing!
There are lots of farms in Denmark, and I guess they’re just really good potato growers with a great climate for them.
But the lesson here is there is beauty in a simple, dirt-covered, bland-colored ingredient. Just roasted, just boiled, just baked — they’re amazing with some Danish butter and sea salt. Perfection!
In summary: Even humble ingredients like potatoes can be the star of the show.
