Happy Monday, all!
Can you believe that we’ve been in this odd quarantine time for nearly 4 months?
I think we’ve all found different ways to handle it all, whether comfort food or taking frequent walks or taking advantage of some retail therapy.
I think we all need to have extra grace for ourselves during these difficult times and understand that it’s OK to find solace in different ways, even shopping. Even better when you can use shopping to support local or mission-driven organizations!
With that, here are some of the best purchases I’ve made during quarantine:
Mountain Valley Sparkling Water
I used to be that person who thought flat water was preferred over bubbly water…and then 4 years ago happened and I (along with all you La Croix lovers) switched over to the bubbles. For me, sparkling water is a special treat. An even more special treat is being able to get fancy sparkling water from my hometown of Hot Springs, AR (even though I live in Raleigh, NC).
I’ve decided that during quarantine and maybe beyond it, I will be stocking several of these $3 glass bottles in my pantry at all times (thanks to my local Whole Foods).
Bralette from Everlane
I don’t know about you, my wardrobe has gotten a little more relaxed these days, with working and being at home most of the time. This has led me to discover the most amazing bra: the bralette! I know I’m a little late to the party, but Everlane has made my dreams come true with a piece that is right between a sports bra and a regular bra.
This bralette is comfortable and light and perfect for wearing at home or out. (I may have even bought 2 of these!)
More Outdoor Furniture
I have felt very lucky to have a nice outdoor space these past few months, and we’ve certainly used it more than we ever have. It’s been nice to focus on making our back patio inviting and colorful and comfortable…even for social distancing! Adding more outdoor furniture to our collection allowed us to do that and even have spots for friends to be 6 feet apart, when needed.
This set from World Market was on sale (and is on even more of a sale now) and was just what we needed for some extra seats.
Plants & Seeds
Connected to the above, I’ve never had such a thriving garden (thanks more so to the mild temperatures and wet spring), but it has been the perfect time to grab some plants from local gardens, vegetable and flowers, and pick some spots to beautify.
In fact, I just bought some wildflower seeds and Queen Anne’s lace seeds for our little wildflower garden. I’m excited to see how fast they will grow!
Donations to Charities
This is a purchase, or rather donation, that can really make a difference. We’ve prioritized giving to local nonprofits, charities and action groups throughout this time. These are groups doing really important work, especially now, and there are so many to support.
I encourage you to find local businesses or nonprofits to support in your neck of the woods. Giving in this way is a lot like planting your own seeds to help grow beautiful things in your community.
