So, here’s the deal.
I’m giving you a two-for-one post today. I usually split these posts up at the end of each year, but we’re combining. 2020 is all about efficiency, right?!
I was about half and half on my food resolutions for 2019 (grew a nice garden, ate local meat and sent a few blog emails), so here are my goals for 2020:
- Eat more hazelnuts– For years, I have loved hazelnuts when I have them at restaurants, but I’ve never bought or baked with them. I declare 2020 the year of the hazelnut. I think I’ll try and get some from the bulk bin at Whole Foods, but let me know if you have a preferred hazelnut provider!
- Make an e-book– I didn’t get to this one last year, so I would like to move it over to 2020. I found some easy sites to help with making e-books from blog posts, and I would love to get a think fruitful PDF out there in the world.
- Healthyish meal plan– We’ve been eating a little wild over the past few weeks of holiday celebrating, so I’m totally here for this Healthyish Feel Good Food Plan from Bon Appetit. The veggie and seafood meals look extra tasty, which leads me to…
- More seafood (again)– This was on my list a few years ago, but we have been loving eating more seafood. I’m talking salmon, catfish, scallops, shrimp. Let’s keep this delicious seafood ball rolling into 2020!
It’s going to be a great year, and I hope that you are feeling optimistic and excited about the new decade!
On to the favorite posts from 2019. Here’s what you loved reading:
1. NC One Bite at a Time: Part 19
This was the one NC local post I did of 2019, and I’m so glad everyone liked it. Not surprising considering it had gelato, vermouth, an amazing food hall, seafood and beer in it. #livinglavidalocal
2. Where to Eat in the NC Triangle
This post of my recommendations of dozens of places to eat and drink in the NC Triangle was basically a 5-year work in progress. It was so fun to release this, and I hope to update it as I discover new spots.
3. Birthday Cake Madeleines
Madeleines are a revelation…I’ll just say it! The dough is easy to make, then you let it rest for a bit in the fridge and then pipe and bake and boom- you have some warm delicious little French cakes! And adding sprinkles is never not a good idea. (Speaking of sprinkles, see #4.)
4. Confetti Cookies
I feel like 2019 was the year of the cookies. These delicious ones made appearances at several parties and vacations. I also discovered these Apple Crumble Cookies that are pretty mind-blowing.
5. Orange Spice Cookies
And we’re ending on another tasty and easy cookie recipe. For those of you who like a spiced cookie with some zest and freshness, these Orange Spice Cookies are simple, quick and unique. And you can even use them to make a 3D cookie Eiffel Tower (real talk: My husband and I just did this for a family competition).
Happy New Year! I hope that your 2020 is filled with tasty cookies, fun recipes and lots of meals shared with family and friends.
Oh and I’m taking the month of January off from blogging, so I’ll see you back soon!
