I think cookie decorating and holiday cookie baking is a fabulous tradition.
It’s all about gifting and gathering people together…and throw cookies in there and I’m a happy gal.
The holidays are all about celebrating together, and it’s neat that we can even do that virtually.
I’m excited to be a part of this year’s The Sweetest Season virtual cookie exchange again, and I’m really excited about this recipe. (Follow along with the hashtag: #sweetestseasoncookies)
The wonder of Orange Spice Cookies
A few questions:
- Do you like citrus flavors?
- Do you like spices like cinnamon and cloves?
- Do you like decorating cookies…or just eating them?
If you answered yes to any of those, then you need to put this cookie recipe on your baking list.
It’s such a nice dough with the freshness of orange zest and then warm spices like cinnamon and cloves join the party, too. AND it’s a breeze to cut it into whatever shapes you or the kiddos around would like.
I went for circles, rectangles and Eiffel Towers myself and it worked like a charm.
I often find that gingerbread is a little too forward in flavor for me, and I think these Orange Spice Cookies are the perfect balance with a lighter but surprising flavor.
And you can even whip up your favorite icing recipe and decorate them if you would like. Loads of possibilities!
Oh and I bet Santa would LOVE these on his cookie plate on Christmas Eve.
