*Although I did receive a hummus goody bag from Roots, this is not a sponsored post and all of the opinions here are my own.

I’m starting a new little series today called “Made in NC” to highlight various products (food and beyond) that are awesome, unique and made in this great state.

You know that I am a fan of local love and I’m hoping this series will help give some great businesses some love and you more great products or services to try out.

Today, we’re talking about Roots Hummus.

My sister found this hummus in one of our local Whole Foods a few months ago and upon trying it, I was hooked and even posted a recipe using their Original Hummus a few Simple Saturdays ago.

And then I got connected with Jenn, a representative from Roots, and she offered to give me an amazing goody bag of hummus along with other fun Roots-branded things.

I was floored and I continue to be more impressed with this company’s business model and fabulous product.

Here area 4 reasons why you should check out Roots:

1. They’re locally made and proud of it!

Roots makes their creamy, tasty and all-natural hummus in Asheville, NC and sells their products in Whole Foods and other stores in NC and lots of other places in the US. Check here to see if they sell their stuff near you.

2. They have some of the most creative flavors and they’re all tasty and fresh!

Lima beans is one of the few veggies that I don’t like, but Roots Lima Bean Hummus is my favorite. And don’t even get me started on the classic taste of the Original Hummus and the perfect amount of heat and spice in the Hot Chipotle Hummus.

3. Roots products are made with natural and high-quality ingredients.

Celtic sea salt, safflower oil, herbs a plenty. Heck yes! Roots calls their product “the microbrew of hummus” because it’s handcrafted and made with 70% organic ingredients. It’s also non-GMO, gluten-free and vegan. In addition to their stellar hummus, Roots makes salsas and tzatziki.

4. They will MAKE your party.

Hosting friends is as easy as putting out a few tubs of Roots Hummus (in various flavors) and pairing them with fresh veggies, pita chips, crackers and some beers, cocktails or wine.

Whether you’re into hummus or just looking for a new exciting dip, Roots Foods is a great local company to support and they’re putting out a product that is by far superior to other brands because it’s made so fresh by people who really care about food.
