N.C. One Bite at a Time (Part 3)

IMG_7154

It’s been another few fun weeks in beautiful N.C. And I’ve had some great opportunities to meet new faces and eat and drink at new places. And I’ve been enjoying occasional nature walks (see photo above).

It’s just about spring and there’s all kinds of fun stuff happening around here to do with food, art, film, etc., so that’s exciting!

Joule Coffee

Another one of Ashley Christensen’s fabulous culinary inventions, Joule is a great place to have a creative breakfast, local lunch or dessert and drinks. I treated myself to a nice cup of tea and biscuits and gravy that were savory and delicious.

Porchetta

Apparently N.C. is big on sports…and when that involves food trucks, I’m on board. We explored some of the trucks at the PNC Arena recently and I got a delicious pork sandwich at Porchetta with some fabulous rosemary roasted potatoes on the side.

Escazu & Videri

Raleigh is a great place for chocolate lovers, and I am definitely one of those! Escazu makes their own chocolate and you can get the best hot cocoa there (in a variety of spice/flavor combos) and Videri is like a real-life Willy Wonka factory and offers quality chocolate bars with fun ingredients like sea salt and peppercorn.

Mura

I had a tasty sushi roll at Mura and was impressed with their presentation and lunch options. They also have a sushi happy hour most days from 2-5, which I hope to take advantage of sometime.

Big Spoon Roasters

I’ve been loving exploring all of the locally-made goodies here in N.C. and Big Spoon Roasters is absolutely one of them. They make some dang good peanut butter that’s beautifully branded and comes in a variety of unique flavors. I got the Peanut Almond but hope to try the Chai or Cocoa Peanut Butter soon!

Roots

Another product that I have been literally eating up is Roots Hummus. It’s one of the best I’ve ever had and they even gave me a goody bag to taste even more of their hummus flavors. I hope to post more in depth about them soon!

Rock & Shop Market

IMG_7507

Saturday I got to go with my sister and her friend, Amanda (who is a very talented local artisan herself at Wit & Whistle), to the Rock & Shop Market in Durham where dozens of local artisan were selling their goods. I loaded up on fun cards, prints and some snazzy bitters from Crude Bitters.

Oh, and before the market, we hit up one of my favorite bakeries/cafes Guglhupf in Durham. Hello, delicious almond croissant, shortbread cookie and tasty tea.
